Newcastle United are looking to avoid the drop into the Championship this season. The club have continued to progress under the guidance of former Champions League winning manager Rafael Benitez and even splashed the cash on their record transfer signing in Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron in January, but they are still not fully safe from the drop and currently occupy a seven point gap over 18th placed Cardiff.

With Huddersfield and Fulham’s relegations already confirmed though the Magpies are in a strong position and even more so following some decent performances in front of their own fans in recent weeks. The Tynesiders have won their last four Premier League games at St James’ Park, including one versus league leaders Manchester City and that’s why they’re 7/5 favourites for the win here with PaddyPower.

Crystal Palace are not yet fully clear of the relegation battle themselves. As things stand, the Eagles sit just one place and one point above their Saturday afternoon opponents in the tables and this could be a tough fixture for them just days after their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the opening game at the new London ground. Encouragingly though, their form on the road has been strong in the second half of the season.

Roy Hodgson’s men have won four of their last seven away games in the Premier League and have only been beaten by Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, two of the top three teams in the table in that run.
