Newcastle host Cardiff for their Matchday 23 Premier League clash on Saturday, just days after bagging a thriller FA Cup win at Blackburn Rovers (2-4) with extra-time goals from Joselu and Ayoze Perez and ending their six-match winless streak across competitions.

Magpies have dropped into the relegation zone with a 2-1 loss at Chelsea beforehand, seeing a very tough schedule and failing to cope with it. Rafa Benitez will now hope his men can do more against similarly struggling rivals and jump them on the league table with important home points.

Cardiff travel to St. James’ Park on the back of just a goalless draw against rock-bottomed Huddersfield, where they failed to convert their chances once again or properly bounce back from disappointing losses to Tottenham (0-3 in Premier League) and Gillingham (1-0 in FA Cup.

Bluebirds have struggled to find the net but Neil Warnock has surely seen the rivals’ inconsistency at the back, hoping his men can capitalize on it and move up in an exciting chase to escape the danger zone midway through the campaign – sitting just a point clear of the rivals at this point.
