Newcastle United vs Liverpool Match Info
Date: Saturday May 4 2019 Kick-off time: 7.45pm BST Venue: St James’ Park Referee: Andre Marriner
Jurgen Klopp must refocus his team on securing the points this weekend against Newcastle, after being on the end of Messi masterclass in their Champions League semi-final first leg. This weekend it is all about keeping their title hopes alive with just the two games left and if people think old Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez will be doing them a favour, think again. If any old manager can do them a favour it is Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester team that face Man City on Monday, but for now it is about the win at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool Match Preview
Liverpool’s recent record on Tyneside is not good (see stats above)…but surely they will find a way to win this time with the Premier League title on the line.
The Reds are in the midst of a humongous 12 days which will decide whether they end their 29-year wait to become English champions again – and also retain the chance of a potential magnificent double by conquering Europe as well.
This game has been slotted halfway in between the two legs of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, with the return match at Anfield on Tuesday (first-leg score not known at the time of writing).
One win in seven away to Newcastle does not bode well, but this is a different Liverpool who have kept the pressure on title rivals Manchester City with 10 straight wins in the two big competitions they are targeting – and that superb form should override the statistical omens.
Much has been speculated about the part ex-Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez could play in his former club’s title aspirations and just how difficult the Newcastle manager will make it for his current team to be broken down.
Newcastle have been in good form since the second half of January, but we do not envisage them stopping the Liverpool bandwagon and expect Jurgen Klopp’s side to prevail and put the ball back into Manchester City’s court for their home match against Leicester on Monday.
