Newcastle United vs Everton Match Preview
Everton have a terrific recent record against Newcastle and may just have found their form again in time to notch up another victory on Tyneside.
As the stats and head-to-head info reveal above, the Toffees have had much the better of their battles with Newcastle during the current decade and this has been a happy hunting ground for them.
Admittedly Newcastle gained a rare point against these opponents in early December when Salomon Rondon put them ahead at Goodison Park with Richarlison equalising in a 1-1 draw, but Everton were reeling then from conceding a late winner to Liverpool three days earlier.
That agonising Merseyside derby defeat appeared to affect Marco Silva’s side for the best part of three months, but there have been definite signs recently that they have finally got the heartbreak out of their system.
They were emphatic 3-0 winners at Cardiff when returning to action after a 17-day break and then put up another spirited display against their local rivals last Sunday when achieving the 0-0 draw they really should have had at Anfield until Jordan Pickford’s untimely howler.
Newcastle have reeled off four consecutive victories on their own pitch to climb away from relegation danger, but a 2-0 defeat at West Ham in their latest outing served as a reality check and another loss could be on the cards against their bogey team here.
