Newcastle United vs Bournemouth Match Preview
Goals are expected to be at a premium when these teams aim to follow up their respective narrow but excellent victories of last weekend.
Both were clear outsiders for those wins and few people can have expected Newcastle to race into a 3-0 lead away to West Ham before holding on for a 1-0 triumph which lifted them four points above the Premier League relegation zone.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, pulled off a 1-0 success at home to Manchester United with a Josh King goal at the end of the first half that took them up to seventh position in a very congested middle section of the table.
Although Newcastle scored three times in 51 minutes in the capital, that ratio was at odds with their usual output and especially when they are at home. The Toon Army have been starved of goal action on Tyneside this term, as the stats above reveal.
As for Bournemouth, they have largely been great entertainers since their promotion to the top flight in 2015 but recently have been keeping things very tight and before King’s winner last week, they had gone the entirety of October without scoring a goal.
The Cherries certainly have the attacking players capable of suddenly clicking into gear, but Newcastle give little away on their own pitch and we can see this being a low-scoring stalemate.
