New York City vs Sporting KC Predictions
New York City have not been at their best so far in this Major League Soccer season and have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign. Indeed, they’ve slipped away from the top positions in the Eastern Conference in the last few weeks as they have won just one of their last four matches in all competitions, dropping down to fifth place in the table and being dumped out of the US Open Cup in the process.
With a handful of games in hand and with no real dominant force in the Eastern Conference at this stage of the campaign, the Bronx Blues still have every opportunity to rise back up the table and indeed if they were to win all of their games in hand they would return to top spot. After bouncing back to winning form with a win over Colorado Rapids last time out you can back NYCFC for another win here at 8/11 with Ladbrokes.
Sporting Kansas City are struggling towards the lower reaches of the Western Conference at the moment as they sit in 10th position with 21 games and it’s been on the road where they have particularly struggled, like many other MLS outfits. Since the league campaign got underway, the Wizards have managed just two wins from their 13 competitive away fixtures, although their performances have certainly picked up of late.
After picking up a rare but impressive victory in their last away fixture north of the border at Vancouver Whitecaps, Peter Vermes’ side were brought crashing back down to earth last time out as they were beaten 0-2 on home soil by FC Dallas. Having lost in both of their last two meetings with NYCFC (being one of the teams they play only once a season), they’ll be out for revenge in this clash at 7/2 with Unibet.
We’re backing the hosts to be too strong for their opponents again here though as they have been in the last two meetings between these two franchises. NYCFC have enjoyed some strong form at home this term and although SKC have improved on the road of late that away form will still be of concern to Vermes. The Wizards have enough quality up top to ensure they get on the scoresheet here so we’re backing the home win and both teams to score bet at 11/5 with Bet365.
Brazilian forward Heber has been predictably prolific since arriving in New York City at the start of this Major League Soccer campaign. The 27 year old’s goal in his last outing against Colorado Rapids took his tally for the campaign to eight goals from his first 12 appearances for the Bronx Blues and he’s quickly establishing himself as one of the hottest strikers in this division so we’re backing him to get on the scoresheet again in this clash.
