New York City vs Orlando City Match Preview
New York City FC had endured a rather difficult start to the Major League Soccer season. In Domenec Torrent’s first full campaign after he joined last year, Pep Guardiola’s former coach has struggled to replicate the kind of form that saw his side finish in 3rd place in the Western Conference last time around as they failed to win any of their opening five games and thus struggled towards the foot of the Eastern Conference early on.
However, the Bronx Blues appear to have finally kick-started their campaign in the last few weeks. A thrilling 3-3 draw in the first game at Minnesota United’s impressive new stadium has been followed up with back-to-back wins, 0-2 away versus Wayne Rooney’s DC United and 1-0 at home to Chicago Fire in midweek. Can Torrent’s men make it three wins on the spin and five without defeat here at 8/13 with Bet365?
Orlando City are hoping to qualify for the play-offs this season for the first time in their Major League Soccer existence. In the early years, under the leadership of Brazilian legend Kaka, the men in purple could never really compete towards the top of the table but now in their purpose-built new stadium and with stars like former Manchester United winger Nani and the prolific striker Dom Dwyer can they kick on this season?
It’s been a fairly promising if inconsistent start for the Lions this season and they currently do occupy a play-off place, having picked up 11 points from their first eight outings of the season. Having won only once in their opening four away games of the season, James O’Connor and his side will know that they need three points here at 22/5 with BetVictor if people are to take their play-off push seriously this term.
Unfortunately for the Florida-based outfit though, they have a poor record against NYCFC, failing to win in their last five meetings with the Bronx Blues. Home advantage players a big part in Major League Soccer too and after the confidence that has come from their last two games we’re backing the hosts to win here, but the visitors should have the quality to get on the scoresheet at least through Nani and Dwyer. The home win and both teams to score bet is available at 21/10 with Bet365.
Valentin Castellanos was a bit-part player for NYCFC in his first season with the club but the Argentinian playmaker has took on a more prominent role in the early stages of this campaign. The 19 year old has already doubled his tally for goals from last season too, scoring twice in his last two games as his side picked up maximum points. We’re backing him to score at any time again here.
