Napoli vs Red Bull Salzburg Match Preview
Napoli host Salzburg for their Europa League clash just days after dropping further behind Serie A dominants Juventus with a 1-2 home loss, where goals from Miralem Pjanic and Emre Can proved enough for the points despite a Jose Callejon pulling one back.
Partenopei have thus seen their winning streak interrupted once again despite a very good display but we expect them very motivated to bounce back quickly, as Carlo Ancelotti looks for an important advantage ahead of the trip to Austria. They have been more convincing here and we should see them able to turn it their way early on.
However, Salzburg come into the match on the back of a Wolfsberger AC (3-0) and promise a great challenge at San Paolo after earning their third win in four outings across competitions, only beaten by Rapid Wien (2-0) along the way.
Red Bulls have thus seen their woes on the road confirmed and this will be more worrying ahead of the tough trip to Italy, despite finding the net on the regular. Coping with Napoli will be no easy task and Marco Rose’s men surely have a lot to prove – looking to add to their tally of just one loss suffered in just over a year.
We don’t see them putting another dent in the rivals’ form here, though, and we see backing Napoli at 8/15 with William Hill as buying money for old rope – despite a disappointment a loss to Juventus must be.
Still, they should be forced into a narrow contest by Salzburg and we don’t feel we should be in for many goals on the day. Napoli have enjoyed their defensive approach at this ground beforehand and we’re now backing them to keep a clean sheet too at 23/20 with William Hill.
