Nantes vs St Etienne Match Preview
Nantes host St Etienne for their Matchday 13 clash still sitting 3rd despite three consecutive losses in Ligue 1 now behind them, only interrupting the unwanted streak with a convincing League Cup win over Paris FC (8-0) last week. They have been tougher to beat at this ground but still have a lot to prove, as Christian Gourcuff looks for a quick fix.
Canaries have thus seen Metz (1-0), Monaco (0-1), and Bordeaux (2-0) all snatch the points despite very narrow occasions along the way, struggling to impress in the final third. They will now hope to recuperate and finally build on the spot with ten sides breathing down their necks (and within three points).
St Etienne caught up among many others and their mid-week draw at Oleksandria (2-2) in Europa League was their fourth draw in eight outings across competitions – with four wins also on the records. They’ve been very tough to outgun on the road lately and will have ground to build on here as well, after beating Nimes (0-1) and Bordeaux (0-1) since late September.
Les Verts thus sit just a point behind the 3rd placed rivals and challenging them will be an important task here. Claude Puel’s men seem to be in a much better place at this point and we feel they will now be able to capitalize on such circumstances at Stade de la Beaujoire – Louis Fonteneau.
We will thus back St Etienne to snatch all three points and going for an Away win at 14/6 with William Hill seems like more than just a lively longshot, especially seeing Nantes’ troubled spell of form in the league even in front of the home fans recently.
We do feel we’re in for goals, though, and St Etienne could have to outgun the rivals to snatch the points once again. With that in mind, we’re also going for a high-scoring occasions with Over 2.5 Goals FT, which comes at 11/8 with bet365.
