Nantes vs Lyon Match Preview

Lyon have seen nothing but troubles last week with a 2-3 Coupe de France loss in the hands of Rennes (where a late goal from Rami Bensebaini saw them out of the competition) and possibly an even more disappointing Ligue 1 loss to Dijon (1-3) as they failed to close the gap to 2nd placed Lille.

Les Gones have thus seen their two-match winning streak from late in March ended and now travel to Nantes for their Matchday 32 hoping for a quick fix, as Bruno Genesio looks for a way to capitalize on his men’s scored goals for quite some time now.

Nantes have seen troubles of their own, though, and the visitors hope to capitalize as well. Vahid Halilhodzic’s men struggled to find the net on the regular and saw league losses to Reims (1-0), Lille (2-3), and Toulouse (1-0) since mid-March as well as a Coupe de France exit in the hands of PSG (3-0) despite a tough challenge.

Les Canaris have been more inspired in front of the home fans, though, and boast solid goalscoring records there – which should have them motivated to finally put an end to an unwanted streak and build towards the mid-table on Friday.

Still, we don’t feel they have what it takes to outgun Lyon at this point and we’ll now stick our necks out for the visitors to snatch all three points, where an Away win caught the eye of many at 5/6 with Paddy Power.

We do expect goals, though, and after seeing both scoring and conceding numbers over the past month – Over 2.5 Goals FT could feel generous at 8/11 with bet365. We’ve seen three or more goals in two of both sides’ respective last three outings, which looks like further evidence for such a bet.
