Nurnberg vs Schalke Match Preview
Schalke have seen a DFB Pokal Quarter-finals exit in the hands of Werder Bremen (0-2) and a more thrilling 1-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt just five points clear of the 16th placed Stuttgart, as they travel to Nurnberg looking to finally pick it up and escape the immediate danger zone.
Die Konigsblauen have struggled to score goals away from home and the one scored in a 0-1 win at Hannover was only the third in five trips, which will come off as even more of a worry for Huub Stevens ahead of the trip to Max-Morlock-Stadion.
Nurnberg come into the match in a somewhat better mood but have a lot to prove, as they sit nine points behind the 14th placed rivals ahead of the Friday’s clash. They’ve beaten Augsburg (3-0) here and held Stuttgart to a 1-1 draw on the road in their last two outings, though, and Der Club will now want to build on the positives.
Boris Schommers’ men have proven themselves a tougher nut to crack at home ground and this will surely give them a lot to build on as well, having suffered just one loss (0-1 to RB Leipzig) in four Bundesliga outings here – while they also held off Bremen (1-1) and Borussia Dortmund (0-0).
We will now back Nurnberg to build on such records and hold off shaky Schalke as well, as we stick our necks out for a Draw at 11/5 with bet365. We’ve seen them as a tough nut and hope they can show off such a character once again this week.
Both sides have struggled to score goals and with that in mind, we now also hope for a narrow occasion with few goals. Under 2.5 Goals FT comes at 8/11 with bet365 and looks a great approach to the fixture by itself, as it would make fourth such occasion in five home outings for Nurnberg – as well as third consecutive for Schalke on the road.
