Montpellier vs PSG Match Preview

PSG travel to Montpellier for their Matchday 34 clash on Tuesday evening as crowned champions of France, where they sit 16 points in the clear with a game in hand to the 2nd placed Lille. They have seen a very unpredictable run of recent form, though, and Thomas Tuchel surely has a lot on his mind.

Indeed, Parisians have seen inconsistency at the back prove costly once again on Saturday, when Rennes bounced from a 0-2 lead to take the Coupe de France Final on penalties and eventually win the silverware – which was their first since 1971. PSG have been scoring goals along the way but still earned just one win in five outings, which should have them desperate to impress at Stade de la Mosson.

Montpellier have seen a contrasting spell of form and we’ve seen them earn three wins in the last four outings, beating Guingamp (2-0), Toulouse (2-1), Strasbourg (1-3), and only suffering a 1-0 loss at Nice along the way. They should now prove just as tough a nut to break, seemingly having more to play for with a top 4 spot still in theory.

La Paillade have been conceding just as many goals through most part of the campaign and this will be more worrying for the home fans, as PSG come enjoying an attacking approach and playing for an extra goal could prove a very dangerous quest in search of points.

We do feel PSG have what it takes to outgun the rivals, though, and we’ll thus go for an Away win at 19/20 with bet365. Tuchel will have most of his stars fit for the day and this could tip the scale in their direction on the day.

However, Montpellier boast great team spirits and we do see them getting on the scoresheet as well, which has us going for a Yes on Both teams to score at 8/13 with William Hill.
