Montpellier vs Nice Match Preview
Nice travel to Montpellier for their Matchday 5 clash in fine form after bagging nine points in their first four outings, only seeing the winning streak interrupted by Marseille (1-2) in front of the home fans. They will now hope to keep it up and challenge PSG at the top of the table early in the new campaign, which promises them very motivated at Stade de la Mosson.
Les Aiglons have beaten Amiens (2-1), Nimes (1-2), and Rennes (1-2) in three very narrow clashes as they struggled to keep it together at the back but outgunned the rivals on all of the occasions. They’ve scored last-gasp goals on two of those too but still get great ground to build on in search of an upset here.
Montpellier will be a hard nut to crack, though, and we expect a great challenge on the day. We’ve seen them kick off the campaign with a disappointment at this ground as Rennes (0-1) snatched all three points and they’ve gone on a break with a similar loss in Nantes (1-0), bagging four points along the way and now looking to bounce once again.
La Paillade have been very tough to score against but conceding just three goals hardly means much. Still, they’ve held off Bordeaux (1-1) and beat Lyon (1-0) for it and we now expect them in a good mood, as we seemingly head into another very narrow occasion in the making on Saturday evening.
We will stick our necks out for them to hold off the in-form visitors and for the sides to share the spoils at Stade de la Mosson, as we go for a Draw priced at 23/10 with Unibet and hope for another tough deadlock to break here.
We feel both sides will have to be on the lookout and we hope not to see an early opener, as we now also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 3/5 with Unibet – which comes as nothing out of the ordinary especially for Montpellier who have based their success on such a defensive approach.
