Montenegro vs England Match Preview

Montenegro have not yet managed to qualify for a major international tournament since they began competing as an independent nation in 2007. Despite being a relatively small nation though, they have at times managed to upset some of the bigger sides on the continent and they have indeed avoided defeat against England in three of their four previous meetings so they won’t be any kind of pushover for the Three Lions in this Monday night fixture.

In the Nations League, the Brave Falcons finished in the middle of their group, losing home and away to neighbours Serbia who did manage to qualify for the World Cup in Russia last summer and beating Lithuania in both of their fixtures against Valdas Urbonas’ side. After beginning their qualifying campaign with a handy 1-1 draw away to Bulgaria can they pull off a shock and overcome England here at odds of 10/1 with Bet365.

England have really turned around their fortunes under the management of Gareth Southgate. Expectations were low when the former Under 21 boss was promoted to the top job, but Southgate led his nation to their best performance at the World Cup last summer in Russia since 1990 as they reached the semi-finals and that was followed up by the team topping their group in the UEFA Nations League above both Spain and Croatia.
