Monaco vs Lyon Match Preview
Monaco host Lyon for their Matchday 26 clash in for a tough challenge as a testimony to their reinvigorated spell of form, after beating Toulouse (2-1) and Nantes (1-0) in two narrow home clashes since early February and holding Montpellier off in a 2-2 thriller on the road in the process.
Les Monegasques have been led by Gelson Martins up front and found the net five times along the way, now hoping to build on such performances and escape the immediate danger zone against the in-form visitors – who still come as heavy favourites to snatch all three points.
Lyon come into the match on the back of a goalless Champions League draw earned against Barcelona, where they had their chances but still saw the Spanish rivals dominate the contest. They have been in better shape and Bruno Genesio’s men sit just four points behind 2nd placed Lille at this point, which will have them just as desperate for points.
Les Gones have seen their first loss on the road since October on their last trip, where Nice shocked them in a 1-0 loss, ending a four-match winning streak as well. However, they will have a lot to prove at Stade Louis II and we feel a busy schedule could prove costly here.
We will thus stick our necks out for Monaco to hold them off and bag important home points on Sunday, going for an enticing Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 4/5 with bet365 in hope they can prove their solid form of recent.
It will be no easy task, though, and they’ll have to impress at the back we feel – as we also go for a low-scoring contest and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 5/4 with Paddy Power. We have seen such contests in six of Monaco’s last nine home outings as well as three of Lyon’s last four trips, which now feels like further evidence for such a bet.
