Minnesota United vs DC United Match Preview
Minnesota United are hoping for a better campaign in their new purpose-built stadium. After only entering Major League Soccer for the first time two years ago, their performances have been pretty average so far with two ninth-placed finishes to their name and no play-off campaigns to date, but the Loons have now opened the Allianz Field with draws against New York City and LA Galaxy – can they now kick on for a first win?
Having already beaten the likes of New York Red Bulls and San Jose Earthquakes away from home this season we have already seen flashes of potential from Adrian Heath and his side but they will need to make their new home into a fortress if they’re to kick on this season and challenge for a play-off position so can they take a step towards that by recording their first win at the Allianz Field here at evens with BetVictor.
DC United were one of the stories of the season last year after their own move to a new home and the marquee signing of former Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney kickstarted an incredible second half of the campaign. Having been bottom-place candidates for some time, DCU rose through the Western Conference and into the play-offs before losing out on penalties to Columbus Crew.
Having been backed among the favourites to lift the MLS Cup this season following that terrific form at the back end of the last campaign, it’s no surprise to see Ben Olsen’s men sitting pretty at the top of the Eastern Conference after nine games. The men from the capital have particularly shone on the road so far, picking up ten points from an available 12 in their first four road games of the season – can they earn another three here at
We’re backing a share of the spoils here. DCU have looked strong on the road so far and won’t go down without a fight against an unpredictable Minnesota United side, but we can’t see the hosts losing here and they have drawn their first two matches at Allianz Field so far, so we think odds of 27/10 with William Hill for a third draw looks like decent value.
It could be a low-scoring game, which isn’t the case very often in Major League Soccer. However, after Minnesota were held to a goalless draw in their last game against LA Galaxy, we can see value in under 2.5 goals at odds of 5/4 with Bet365, especially when you consider that three of DC United’s last four outings have seen the bet come in, so that’s our second recommended bet here.
