Millwall vs West Brom Match Preview

Millwall looked to be on course for at least a point at Leeds but they were twice pegged back before conceding a winner.  The result means they are still deep in the relegation battle sitting 21stand and just one point off Rotherham. They face a tricky run in with just two of their last eight against a team in the bottom eight.

At the Den, the Lions have lost their last two and are without a victory in five in the Championship.  A lack of goals at their own place is an issue with just four netted from their last seven.  Three of the last five here have been goalless going into the break.

West Brom made it three straight victories as they saw off local rivals Birmingham 3-2 in their last outing.  It might not be enough to keep caretaker boss James Shan in permanent employment as the club were linked with Sam Allardyce this week. The Black Country outfit are in fourth spot and sit six points behind Leeds in second.

Away from the Hawthorns, the Baggies are playing well winning five of their last six and nine of the last 11.  In four of their last six on the road Albion have kept clean sheets including last time on their travels.  Dwight Gayle has four in his last eight appearances away from home while Jay Rodriguez has three in seven.

Bookmakers make West Brom slight favourites to win this fixture and I cannot argue with that in fact if anything I would have gone even shorter on Albion.  I think then the road team has to be backed to win this one against a Millwall side who have lost three of their last five here and netted just two times in total.  The visitors carry far greater attacking threat and have produced 20 goals from their last ten on the road.

Jake Livermore is not a prolific scorer but he does have two in the last seven and a recent tweak in the system means he is given licence to get forward from midfield more often.  In a game that will short on space the threat from midfield could be key and he looks great each-way value to be first goalscorer.
