Millwall vs Preston Match Preview
Millwall will be looking to improve on a 21st placed finish last season which put them place and four points above the relegation zone. Neil Harris remains in charge but they have favoured a turnaround in players with six signings and eight players out the exit door. Bookmakers make the London outfit seventh favourites for the drop.
At the Den, only Bolton and Ipswich won a lower amount of home games in the Championship than the seven the Lions won. A lack of home goals was a major concern with the 26 they netted in front of their own fans only the 22nd best.
Preston will be looking to improve on their 14th place finish last season losing each of their final four to end the season. Alex Neil remains the man in the dugout with Callum Robinson the main loss to balance the books. Bookmakers have them as 15th favourites for the title but if the Lancashire side can replicate the form of the first three months of 2019 where they went 12 unbeaten they could be in the mix for the play-offs.
Away from Deepdale, the Lilywhites had a middling record of eight wins, three draws and 12 defeats from their 23 played. To end the season they lost each of their last four on the road but had won the six prior to that.
Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair as the visitors are rated the stronger side but home advantage brings Millwall about level. This leads to a clue in the betting in a game that could be tight early on as both teams look to gel units that have seen changes in the summer. Both are also looking to replace strikers who lead the line so we might have to wait for goals. Take the game to be level at half-time and for a little more value the same result after 60 minutes.
