Middlesbrough vs Stoke Match Preview
Middlesbrough did not enjoy their trip to Wales last weekend where they went down 3-1 at Swansea and had two men (Marcus Browne and Patrick McNair) dismissed. The result stretches their winless run to two and it is just one success from the last four.
At the Riverside Stadium, Boro last played on the 7th December and they beat Charlton 1-0 that day although they should have won by more. It is two successive victories and four without defeat at their own ground for the Teesiders.
Stoke can consider themselves unlucky not to have beat Reading at the weekend but had to settle for a point in a goalless home draw. It means the Staffordshire outfit are unbeaten in their last two but have won just one of their last five.
Away from the Bet365 Stadium, the Potters went down 2-1 at the KCOM Stadium to Hull on their last road trip. It is two successive defeats on the road for City and four from their last five with a sole success coming at Barnsley.
Most bookmakers make Stoke marginal favourites for the game which is puzzling given their poor road form and how strong Boro have been at home of late. The Teesiders look worth backing along with the security of money back if it finishes all-square in the draw no bet market.
James McClean was our prediction last weekend to net at any time and while he was unsucessful he went closest for the Potters and we think he looks value to net here.
