Mexico vs Canada Match Preview
Mexico meet Canada for their Matchday 2 Gold Cup clash in Group A in Denver as they look to build on a thrashing 7-0 win over Cuba as well as a five-match winning streak connected since March, where they boast great goalscoring records and now come as heavy favourites to keep it up.
El Tri have beaten Chile (3-1), Paraguay (4-2), Venezuela (3-1), and Ecuador (3-2) in four friendly outings beforehand and we’ve seen them net a total of 13 goals along the way, as Gerardo Martino set up a deadly attacking line led by Raul Jimenez and has a lot to be happy about.
Canada have, on the other hand, beaten Martinique (4-0) with goals from Jonathan David, David Hoilett, and Scott Arfield, connecting their sixth win in a row. They’ve had a more lenient schedule but still boast great team spirits lately and they look in a great spot to snatch the 2nd spot in the group.
Canucks have been solid at the back, keeping clean sheets in all of their last six outings too, but Mexico will obviously be much more of a challenge and we don’t feel they have what it takes to cause an upset. The rivals have been very convincing head-to-head clashes and we do see them building on the tally now.
We’ll thus back Mexico to their fourth win to Nil over Canada in a row, which comes at an enticing 19/20 with Ladbrokes and has caught the eye of many in the know. They’ve been solid defensively and should have too much for Canucks at this point.
We still hope to see goals and a rather one-sided clash here, which has us going for a high-scoring game with Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/6 with William Hill – which looks like buying money for old rope even for those keeping faith Mexico will keep a clean sheet on the day.
