Metz vs Monaco Match Preview
Metz returned to the top flight and took on a tough trip to Stade de la Meinau, falling behind early in the match but still snatching a point as Habibou Diallo levelled it early in the second half, as they now host Monaco for their Matchday 2 clash hoping to build on such a performance.
Les Grenats have thus put a somewhat underwhelming pre-season campaign behind them, where they bagged just two wins in seven outings. Frederic Antonetti will want his men to get used to life in Ligue 1 as quickly as possible and doing so in front of the home fans will be a crucial task.
Monaco have seen a very disappointing start of the new campaign as they fell behind very early on and struggled to cope with Lyon (0-3) in front of the home fans, with Cesc Fabregas sent off with just 30 minutes on the clock. They will now need more to cause an upset and Leonardo Jardim has to find a quick cure.
Les Monegasques have been solid through their late pre-season and the loss only ended a four-match unbeaten streak, where they beat Valencia (1-0), Porto (0-1), Sampdoria (1-0), and held Sporting Braga to a goalless draw. They’ve been more solid at the back and we do expect them rediscovering consistency on the day.
However, we feel this will be enough for just a point at Stade Saint-Symphorien and we’ll now stick with the sides to share the spoils, backing a Draw priced at 11/5 with William Hill and hoping for slim margins between the sides on the day.
Both sides have been tough to score and Monaco will now hopefully be able to put a thrashing loss behind them, as we now also go for a low-scoring clash and Under 2.5 Goals FT at 6/10 with William Hill – which has caught attention of many big hitters.
