Marseille vs Montpellier Match Preview
Marseille host Montpellier on the Final day of the campaign with no great consistency to boast but hoping to build on a very entertaining 2-5 win at Toulouse, where Sanson, Sakai, N’Jie, and Thauvin (x2) all found the net to mark a return to the winning ways after three outings.
Indeed, Les Phoceens have lost the chances of a top 4 finish with home losses to Nantes (1-2) and Lyon (0-3) as well as a 1-1 draw at Strasbourg. Rudi Garcia’s men have been scoring goals on the regular but just misses leaders at the back, as veterans Adil Rami, Rolando, Abdennour, and Tomas Hubocan all failed to make a serious impact this term.
Montpellier have shown it costly this term and bagged a thrashing 3-0 win over L’OM in front of the home fans, now looking for their first double over the rivals since 2014/15. They’ve only shared the spoils with Nantes (1-1) last week to extend a six-match unbeaten streak, which could be more worrying.
Indeed, a lot has depended on their defensive displays this term but La Paillade have struggled on some occasions lately, where they conceded at least a goal on five of those six occasions despite a sold streak – and 14 points earned along the way.
We do feel Marseille will now come very motivated to impress at Velodrome and end the campaign on a high despite disappointments across competitions, as we now stick with a Home win at 3/4 with bet365.
We’ve seen them furious in the final third and we feel they’ll have to make use of it, as we also go for a high-scoring contest as more of a banker bet – where Over 2.5 Goals FT comes at 11/20 with Paddy Power and both sides enjoy such clashes on the regular recently.
