Marseille vs Lyon Match Preview
Lyon travel to Marseille for their Matchday 36 clash on Sunday looking for important points as they try to build on their top 3 spot but also make a last-ditch attempt to challenge Lille, where they saw the 2nd placed rivals snatch a point in an exciting contest at Groupama Stadium and retain a six-point gap.
Les Gones have kept scoring numbers of goals as they still extended a three-match unbeaten streak with a 2-2 draw last week, following their similarly exciting wins over Angers (2-1) and Bordeaux (2-3). They now have St Etienne breathing down their necks and will surely be under pressure to produce at Orange Velodrome.
Marseille have, on the other hand, fallen behind in a chase for the Champions League spots and sit eight points behind the rivals with three games to play. They’ve been unpredictable and saw their hopes shattered over the past two weeks, which will give the visitors something to build on.
Indeed, Les Phoceens saw Nantes (1-2) snatch all three points at this ground and only bounced back through a 1-1 draw at Strasbourg, where they were the better team but failed to really capitalize. They will now want more but should be in for another great task here.
We still feel Marseille will be very motivated to show off as a tough nut to crack in front of the home fans, as we now go for a Double Chance – Home win or Draw at 7/10 with bet365 – which looks like great value at this point.
We do expect goals and this makes it hard to call but promises thrills in Marseille, as we now also back a Yes on Both teams to score as more of a banker bet at 8/15 with William Hill. We’ve seen both sides scoring and conceding goals on the regular and this would be seventh such occasion in eight outings for both sides.
