Mansfield vs Oldham Match Preview
Mansfield have seen a thriller EFL Trophy clash against Crewe Alexandra and suffered a loss on penalties after a 1-1 draw, where an early opener from Jimmy Knowles wasn’t enough to earn their first win in Northern Group E and build on their narrow 0-1 win at Grimsby seen last week.
Stags will now want to bounce and finally return to the winning ways in front of the home fans, where they saw three consecutive losses since mid-September – as Cambridge (0-4) and Plymouth (0-1) both snatched league points beforehand. They have finally started scoring goals more regularly, though, and this could give John Dempster’s men something to build on.
Oldham have struggled for points just as much early in the new campaign and we’ve only seen them bag two wins so far, as they beat struggling Morecambe (3-1) and shocked Cambridge (1-2) on the road back in August. They now have a lot to prove if they’re to escape the bottom of the table and it’s a very long climb up.
Latics have been tougher to beat lately, though, and their mid-week loss to League One rivals Accrington Stanley (0-3) was only their second in seven games across competitions. They’ve held Cheltenham to a 1-1 draw just days beforehand and will now hope for a similar upset at One Call Stadium.
We do see them making it happen and we’re now sticking our necks out for a Draw on Saturday, which comes at 5/2 with bet365 and looks like value at this point – as both sides obviously struggle to turn clashes their way lately.
We do feel we’re in for goals and we should thus see them on both ends, as we also back our claims with a Yes on Both teams to score at 17/20 with Unibet. We’ve seen defensive slip-ups on both ends and we now hope to see them capitalize on both ends too!
