Manchester United vs Partizan Belgrade Match Preview
Manchester United have yet to concede a goal in Europa League Group L and will qualify for the knockout stage if they repeat their victory of a fortnight earlier against Partizan Belgrade.
The Red Devils are doing just enough goalscoring-wise to stay in command of this pool because they have only found the net twice, with contributions from Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial (penalty) earning three points respectively against Astana and Partizan.
Their other result was a 0-0 draw away to AZ Alkmaar, who look like being the other qualifiers from this group especially if they win in Kazakhstan earlier on Thursday after dishing out a 6-0 drubbing to Astana in the Netherlands.
This is a match in which United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to learn little about his squad, especially if it produces another perfunctory performance – which would not really matter, as long as they win, because Brighton at home in the Premier League on Sunday is of greater importance.
From Partizan’s perspective, they may as well have a go because a victory would do wonders for their qualification hopes, whereas grinding out a draw is of little use to them.
Given that United have scored exactly one goal in all of their last six home games, there appears no reason why they should suddenly click into gear now, especially after losing 1-0 at Bournemouth last weekend, and they may have to rely on another clean sheet to ensure they come out on top here.
