Manchester United vs Brighton Match Preview
Manchester United are two points behind Brighton in the Premier League table – and there looks to be no guarantee they will beat the Seagulls on Sunday to climb above them.
Although United have shown flickers of finding top form in the last few weeks by putting three goals past Norwich and Partizan Belgrade, they have yet to produce the real consistency that would suggest they are ready to push back up towards the top six.
What the Red Devils desperately need is a convincing Premier League performance at home. They failed to hang on to leads against Arsenal and Liverpool, just about clung on to beat Leicester despite being second best after the break and lost to Crystal Palace, all since they were flattered to win 4-0 against Chelsea on the opening weekend of the campaign.
While Brighton have a poor record at Old Trafford (see stats above) they are in good form just now and appear to be an improved side under manager Graham Potter.
Brighton have won three of their last four games, admittedly all at home, and have more goal threat about them than was the case when Chris Hughton was in charge.
United may well make their odds of 8/13 look generous. But until they put a Premier League team to the sword at Old Trafford like they ought to be capable of, we would rather take them on – and Brighton could just extend their margin over them in the table to five points.
