Manchester City vs Arsenal Match Preview

Manchester City dodged a bullet despite their midweek defeat at Newcastle and will want to get back on track in the Premier League title race when they host Arsenal.

The reigning champions could not add to their opening goal scored after just 24 seconds by Sergio Aguero on Tyneside and were caught out by a couple of sucker punches as they went down 2-1.

But in a program of shock results, Liverpool could not take full advantage of City’s slip-up and drew 1-1 at home to Leicester, which means the gap at the top is only five points when it could have been seven.

Arsenal were among the big winners this week in the sense that they jumped into the top four ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United by beating Cardiff, but their inconsistency over the last 11 games has to be a worry.

Defence remains a problem area for manager Unai Emery, especially due to injuries in that department, and the 5-1 capitulation at Liverpool five weeks ago will be all too fresh in the memory of Gunners fans.

Away form is also a concern for Arsenal, but they have goals in them via Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette and we will back them to make a real fight of this test.
