Malta vs Faroe Islands Match Preview
Faroe Islands travel to Malta as they kick off EURO 2020 Qualifiers on Saturday, looking to snatch important points at Ta’Qali National Stadium and get off to a good start despite a very tough group and schedule to follow.
Landslidid have snatched a 1-1 draw here in November and Lars Olsen will want his men to build on such a performance, where we’ve seen very early goals on both ends orchestrated by Rene Joensen on one end and Juan Corbalan on the other. We do feel we’re in for another solid challenge now but snatching points should prove a tough task for them.
Malta have, on the other hand, bagged just one win in 18 games over the past two years and now have a 16-match winless streak behind them. They’ve seen just five draws along the way and there’s been an overwhelming feeling Raymond Farrugia struggles to find a cure for their inconsistencies at the back.
Knights of Malta have thus conceded goals in all of their last 11 home outings and this will be just as worrying with another tough campaign looming, where the Saturday’s clash seems like the least of a challenge they will get. We now expect them motivated to make it count but we don’t really see them doing so.
We’ll thus back the visitors to snatch an important point at Ta’Qali National Stadium and we’ll stick our necks out for a Draw at 11/5 with bet365, which would be the sides’ second draw in a row and feels like the best approach to the fixture.
We have seen both struggling sides struggling to score numbers of goals and with that in mind, we’re also going for a low-scoring contest in Malta as we also go for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 4/9 with bet365. We’ve seen two or fewer goals in four of Faroe Islands’ last five outings as well as three of Malta’s respective last five, which feels like further evidence.
