Malmo vs Ballymena Match Preview
Malmo host Ballymena United for their Europa League Qualifiers clash on Thursday evening looking to prove their worth and justify the role of heavy favourites, moving the contest out of reach in the first leg already with a confident display in front of the fans at Swedbank Stadion.
Di Blae have been very confident in Allsvenskan this term and they sit six points in the clear at the top of the table after 15 games played, seeing just one loss in 15 outings. They have seen Lyngby (2-4) turn a thrilling friendly clash their way and end their lengthy unbeaten streak on Sunday, but Uwe Rosler rotated the lineup and will now obviously want more from his men.
Ballymena have, on the other hand, made it to the 1st Qualifying Round on the back of Preliminaries win over NSI (2-0), where they earned a two-goal advantage at home ground in late June and secured the ticket with a goalless draw at Svangaskard earlier this month.
Sky Blues have picked it up through the pre-season and we’ve seen them beat Cardiff MU (1-0) and Barry Town United (2-1) midway through June. However, causing an upset in Sweden will be much more of a challenge for David Jeffrey’s men and it’s really a wild longshot to believe they can make it happen.
We’ll thus back Malmo to secure an advantage on the day and we feel they’ll be able to do so with great confidence at the back, as we stick with a Home win to Nil at 8/15 with bet365 – which feels like buying money for old rope.
However, we don’t feel we have a thrashing on our hands here and with that in mind, we hope not to see too many goals as many would suggest – as we now also go for Under 3.5 Goals FT at 31/20 with Unibet which feels like great value at this point for those keeping faith the visitors will not get on the scoresheet.
