Mallorca vs Sevilla Match Preview
Sevilla travel to Palma de Mallorca for their Matchday 18 clash on Saturday, just days after their Copa del Rey trip to Tercera Division rivals Bergantinos midway through the week, where they’re forced into a search for a win ending a three-match winless streak across competitions.
Sevillistas had already secured the top spot in Europa League Group A and the 1-0 loss at APOEL will hardly be a great disappointment. However, failing to turn clashes against Osasuna (1-1) and Villarreal (1-2 loss) despite finding the net on both occasions will be more worrying for Julen Lopetegui, with five sides breathing down their necks in a top 4 chase.
Mallorca have struggled to make a great impact after securing a return to the top flight after six years, now sitting just a point clear of the relegation zone and struggling to make the goals scored count in search for points – only ending a streak of three losses as they held Celta Vigo to a 2-2 draw last week.
Vermilions have seen Levante (2-1), Betis (1-2), and Barcelona (5-2) all snatch the points in exciting games since the November International break, which will be just as worrying despite scoring six goals along the way. They will now need more if they’re to escape the danger zone and we don’t see them getting it here.
We’ll thus stick with Sevilla to snatch the points at Iberostar Stadium as well, going for an Away win at 7/10 with William Hill and hoping to see them outclass the troubled rivals despite failing to earn great pick-me-ups in La Liga lately.
We should still be in for an exciting contest and Mallorca have shown they have threats in the final third lately too, mainly through Ante Budimir and Lago Junior. We feel they’ll be able to make an impact and we’re now backing a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with William Hill.
