Mallorca vs Real Madrid Match Preview
Real Madrid travel to Palma de Mallorca for their Matchday 9 clash as La Liga pace-setters despite quite an unpredictable run early in the new campaign. Still, they have both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid breathing down their necks and building on the gap behind them with points at struggling rivals is surely a must for Zinedine Zidane’s men.
Los Blancos beat Granada (4-2) in a high-scoring contest in front of the home fans just before the International break and they return to the Spanish top flight looking to extend a five-match unbeaten streak – where they bagged less thrilling wins over Sevilla (0-1) and Osasuna (2-0) as well as draws against Atleti (0-0) and Club Brugge (2-2).
Mallorca, on the other hand, beat Espanyol (2-0) ahead of the break and ended a streak of seven matches without a win. They have been far from easy targets but still struggled for such pick-me-ups, which could be worrying for the crowd at Iberostar Estadi ahead of the Saturday’s clash.
Los Bermellones have seen Real Sociedad (0-1), Valencia (2-0), Getafe (4-2), Atletico Madrid (0-2), and Alaves (2-0) all bag the points and only sharing the spoils in a goalless draw against Bilbao along the way will hardly be much of a confidence booster. They will now need more if they’re to shut down the tough visitors and we don’t see them up to the task.
We do hope for another tough challenge defensively, though, and we’ll now stick our necks out for Real Madrid to bag win to Nil at 8/5 with bet365. We have seen Mallorca struggling to score goals on the regular and this should be something the visitors can capitalize on.
However, we don’t feel we’re in for many goals on their end either. With that in mind, we’re now also going for Under 2.5 Goals FT at 7/5 with Paddy Power, which would make it the third such occasion in a row for Los Blancos on the road and fifth in Mallorca’s last six outings overall.
