Mainz vs RB Leipzig Match Preview
RB Leipzig have been in great shape in the final third and travel to Mainz on the back of a seven-match winning streak across competitions mainly for it, now looking to keep it up at OPEL Arena and build on their top 4 spot.
Die Bullen have beaten Freiburg (2-1) last week with goals from Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg, proving such quality once again as this was the fifth time they’ve both scored and conceded in the last six outings. They now don’t have as high stakes to play for but we feel Ralf Rangnick will allow no complacency.
Mainz have proven themselves a tough nut to crack at this ground but now come into the match looking for a pick-me-up after a troubled trip to Nurnberg and a 1-0 loss to the rock-bottomed rivals. They’re well out of the danger zone, though, and we should see them just as motivated to bounce back.
Die Nullfunfer outclassed Freiburg (5-0) and Fortuna Dusseldorf (3-1) in last two outings at this ground, boasting great goalscoring records along the way as Jean-Philippe Mateta leads the attacking line with five goals to his name in the last four appearances with the club.
However, we do see Leipzig outgunning the rivals and snatching the points on Friday evening, as we go for an Away win at 7/10 with William Hill. They’ve been unbeatable in over a month and we feel they can capitalize on such a streak here.
With that in mind, we hope to see goals and we’ll now also go for a high-scoring contest – where Over 2.5 Goals FT comes at 8/13 with bet365 and looks like buying money for old rope just as much despite no high stakes involved. We’ve seen a total of 18 goals in Leipzig’s last five outings, which serves as further evidence here.
