Macclesfield vs Cambridge Match Preview
Macclesfield Town host Cambridge United for their Matchday 46 clash on Saturday looking for all-important points to secure the League Two survival, sitting just two points clear of 23rd placed Notts County as the rivals kept up despite earning four in their last two outings.
Silkmen put on two rock-solid displays at the back and held Newport County to a goalless draw and beat Port Vale (0-1) on the road with a single goal from David Fitzpatrick. Sol Campbell will now want more of the same from his men and we do see them performing.
Cambridge come into the match amid a troubled spell of form where just one point earned in their last five outings sees them just three clear of Macclesfield. They’ve long secured survival but Colin Calderwood surely has a lot on his mind ahead of the trip to Moss Rose Ground.
The U’s have finally rediscovered their goalscoring form over the past week but this still wasn’t enough for points, as both Forest Green Rovers (2-1) and Morecambe (1-2) snatched them in exciting clashes along the way. Still, they don’t have high stakes involved and many question their motivation late in the campaign.
We thus feel Macclesfield should have what it takes to capitalize on such woes on the rivals’ end and bag all three points, as we go for a Home win at 7/5 with bet365. We’ve seen them pick it up lately and we now hope to see them building on such records at a crucial time.
Still, after seeing Cambridge finally score goals last week, we’re also hoping for a solid challenge here and going for a Yes on Both teams to score at Evens with bet365. Macclesfield kept just one clean sheet in ten home outings in 2019 and could thus have to outgun the rivals to secure the points.
