Lyon vs Toulouse Match Preview

Lyon host Toulouse for their Matchday 27 clash on Sunday, just days after returning to the winning ways with a somewhat rotated line-up in Coupe de France contest against Caen (3-1) – where Jason Denayer, Maxwell Cornet, and Memphis Depay all found the net to sail past the struggling rivals.

Les Gones have thus bounced back from a more disappointing 2-0 loss at Monaco last week and now look to retain such consistency ahead of the Champions League trip to Barcelona, which promises them in a good mood at Groupama Stadium once again. They now look for their fourth win in five outings here despite a tough schedule and the visitors should obviously have their hands full.

Toulouse have struggled to produce and while they’re still well out of the relegation zone, this could change as soon as Sunday. They come into the match on the back of a 1-1 draw against Caen, where they proved themselves a tough nut to crack despite only finding a last-minute equalizer to bag their third point in five league outings.

Les Pitchouns have struggled to cope with rivals on the road, though, and saw both Monaco (2-1) and Bordeaux (2-1) secure the points in narrow clashes since early February. The Coupe de France exit at Nantes (2-0) seen along the way just proves to the point and we find it hard to believe in more in Decines-Charpieu.

We have seen Toulouse scoring away goals on the regular, though, and with Lyon’s struggles to keep clean sheets here – we’re now sticking our necks out for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score at an enticing 15/8 with William Hill.

With that in mind, a high-scoring contest at Groupama Stadium feels like even more of a banker bet as we go for Over 2.5 Goals FT at 4/7 with Paddy Power. That would make the eight such occasion in ten home outings for Lyon as well as the fifth in seven trips for Toulouse!
