Lyon vs Dijon Match Preview
Lyon host rock-bottomed Dijon for their Matchday 31 Ligue 1 clash on Saturday, just days after crashing out of Coupe de France in a thriller 2-3 loss to Rennes. They’ll now be desperate to recuperate quickly and catch up with 2nd placed Lille, hoping the visitors will not be the same sort of a challenge.
Les Gones have been rather convincing in front of the home fans earlier and the loss to Rennes only ended a streak of seven games without one, where they beat Caen (3-1), Toulouse (5-1), and Montpellier (3-2) and enjoyed high-scoring displays since late February.
Dijon have largely struggled for points and bagged just one in their last eight league outings, falling victims to PSG (3-0) in Coupe de France along the way. They’ve struggled to score goals on the road and Antoine Kombouare has struggled to find a cure.
Indeed, Les Rouges have failed to find the net in any of their last four trips and saw Nimes (2-0), Lille (1-0), Guingamp (1-0) all secure the points and PSG make their way to the Cup semi-finals with ease. They will now want more against shaken up rivals but we don’t see them snatching anything.
We will thus back Lyon to bounce back quickly and confidently, as we stick our necks out for them to win to Nil at 11/10 with William Hill in hope they can capitalize on the rivals’ woes in the final third on Saturday.
Still, we expect them very motivated in the final third and after seeing the regularly score numbers of goals at Groupama Stadium, we’re also going for a convincing win with another win by 3 goals at 7/2 with Paddy Power – which shapes to be a lively longshot at this point.
