Lyon vs Caen Match Preview
Lyon host Caen for their Coupe de France Quarter-finals clash on Wednesday after losing on their consistency with a busy and tough schedule, where they saw their second loss in four outings on trip to Monaco (2-0) – struggling to score goals on the road and seeing it costly.
Les Gones have been more convincing in front of the home fans, though, and Bruno Genesio will now want his men to show off once again. They’ll be desperate to lift their team spirits ahead of the next week’s Champions League trip to Barcelona after holding the Spanish rivals to a goalless draw here, which promises a very strong challenge at Groupama Stadium.
Caen come into the match with similar struggles for consistency where the Cup success comes as they only bright spot recently. They’ve earned two points in last four league outings, beaten by Amiens (1-0) and Nantes (0-1) and held off by Strasbourg (0-0) and Toulouse (1-1) more recently.
SMC have struggled to turn clashes their way on the road but we have seen them scoring goals. While it’s tough seeing them keep their Cup campaign going on the day, we do feel the visitors will be hyped to do so as we head into an exciting contest in Decines-Charpieu in the making.
We will thus stick our necks out for a Home win and a Yes on Both teams to score, which combines to an enticing 2/1 with bet365 and has seen support from many in the know already – after seeing such occasions in four of Lyon’s last five home outings.
With that in mind, it’s easy to make a case for a high-scoring contest here and going for Over 2.5 Goals FT feels more like a banker bet at 4/6 with BetVictor. We haven’t really seen many high-scoring clashes on any end lately but this should still prove an exciting contest.
