Lyon vs Bordeaux Match Preview
Lyon host Bordeaux for their Matchday 4 Ligue 1 clash on Saturday afternoon, just days after their disappointing display in a tense 1-0 loss at Montpellier, where the rivals felt dominant in the first half and got their reward in a winner from Arnaud Souquet – as Sylvinho’s ten men failed to overturn it despite a better performance in the second.
Les Gones have been more convincing beforehand and they’ll now be desperate to bounce to such a streak, where they beat Monaco (0-3) and Angers (6-0) with nine goals scored and none conceded. They’ve been led by Moussa Dembele and Memphis Depay up front, a scoring duo that obviously needs to extend for consistency in the long run.
Bordeaux have, on the other hand, beaten Dijon (0-2) last week and finally ended their winless streak with goals from Hwang Ui-jo early in the first and Loris Benito early in the second half, which will have them very motivated to cause an upset at Groupama Stadium too – having snatched at least a point on all of their last three trips here.
Les Girondins have struggled defensively, though, and we feel they have a lot to prove if they’re to hold off the rivals now. They’ve conceded four in clashes against Angers (3-1) and Montpellier (1-1) earlier, as Paulo Sousa hopes he’s found the much-needed stability at the back now.
We don’t feel he has, though, and we’ll now rather back Lyon to outgun the rivals in another very exciting contest in front of the home fans. We’ll thus go for a Home win and Over 2.5 Goals Ft here, which combines to Evens with Coral and looks a great approach to the fixture.
We have seen Bordeaux scoring on the regular and we hope to see them do the same in Decines-Charpieu, holding out for a thriller with a Yes on Both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365 too. We’ve seen goals on both ends in all of the sides’ last six head-to-head clashes.
