Luton vs Middlesbrough Match Preview
Luton return to the Championship for the first time since 2007 after winning League 1 last season in impressive style. Bookmakers think they will struggle on the return and have them as seventh favourites for the drop. Graeme Jones is the new man in the dugout while the club have lost a few key players over the summer.
At Kenilworth Road, they managed to go unbeaten in the league last season and have not lost a league match here since 2018. In each of their last six and nine of their last ten in front of their own fans they have scored over 1.5 goals.
Middlesbrough finished seventh last season just one place and one point below the top six and a play-off spot. Tony Pulis was replaced as manager and Jonathan Woodgate takes over with an emphasis on developing younger players. Bookmakers have them pencilied in for tenth spot and do not think they are one of the favourites to go up.
Away from the Riverside, they were quite strong last season with ten victories, seven draws and just six defeats in 23. The 24 goals conceded on their travels was the joint-second best in the division and they will hope to stay as strong this season.
Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair and you can see why as both have new men in the dugout and have seen a turnover in player personnel. Luton have been leaking goals in pre-season and it might take Jones time to get his system across. while Boro will also look to entertain more under Woodgate and we think goals are the order of the day. Over 2.5 goals looks the value call while over 3.5 also offers appeal.
