Livingston vs Rangers Match Preview
Rangers’ record at Livingston going back well over a decade is anything but strong and they could be worth opposing again on their latest visit this weekend.
As the stats above outline, the Gers have been struggling to come out on top in a series of low-scoring contests at Almondvale and this may well be another tight encounter.
Denied a pipe-opener after the winter break when their Scottish Cup tie at Cowdenbeath was controversially postponed due to a frozen pitch, Steven Gerrard’s side lost their first match since the Old Firm triumph on December 29 when beaten 2-1 at Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
Jermain Defoe made a goalscoring start to his Rangers career and fellow Premier League loan arrival Steven Davis also began that game before both were substituted, and the duo’s match fitness should have improved for that outing.
Livingston, meanwhile, have lost three in a row but all by single-goal margins and if anything they looked the better side when edged out 1-0 away to St Johnstone in midweek.
Unless the form book is turned upside down here, we cannot see there being many goals. On that basis it could pay to keep Livingston on side, especially as they won the equivalent fixture earlier this season with a solitary goal from Angolan striker Dolly Menga.
