Livingston vs Rangers Match Preview
Rangers continue to have only a solitary blemish on their record this season and are backed to continue their winning ways in this Scottish League Cup quarter-final.
Steven Gerrard’s side suffered their sole defeat in 16 matches so far this term when they lost the first Old Firm clash 2-0 at home in the Premiership – but that should not have dented their aspirations of silverware this season too much.
The Gers will still fancy their chances in all three domestic competitions, while their Europa League form suggests they could have a lengthy run on the continent too despite being given a very tough group – in which they have nevertheless made the ideal start.
The defeat to Celtic is the only disappointing result Rangers have had and that spells trouble for Livingston who, the weekend before last, were beaten 3-1 at Ibrox in the league.
There was also a 2-0 home reverse against Aberdeen for Gary Holt’s side on Saturday, but otherwise they have made a decent start to the campaign albeit they have had a kind draw in the League Cup before this test.
With Rangers constantly playing two matches a week at present due to being in the Europa League group stage, Gerrard is likely to rotate his squad here and give an opportunity to some fringe players – and that, combined with Livingston having home advantage, means it should be tighter than the meeting between these clubs 11 days earlier.
