Lille host St Etienne for their mid-week Ligue 1 clash with a disappointing 1-0 loss at Amiens behind them, where the rivals felt dominant through most part of the match and Christophe Galtier’s men made just one shot on goal. They’ve seen a busy summer and now obviously have a lot to work on and little time to do so.

LOSC have a history of doing better at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, though, and the home win over Nantes (2-1) on the opening day of the campaign will give the crowd more to look forward to, despite coming narrowly through a brace from Victor Osimhen. Les Verts could need more in Villeneuve d’Ascq and they hardly have a great history of getting positive results at this ground, having snatched just one win in 20 games – with 13 losses and six draws along the way. They have found the net on four of the last five trips here, which does promise an exciting occasion.
