Lille vs Montpellier Match Preview
Lille have seen a disappointing Champions League campaign end with a disappointing trip to London on Tuesday, as they suffered a 2-1 loss at Chelsea and finished rock-bottomed in Group H with just a single point to their name. They now host Montpellier and hope to bounce quickly, boasting solid Ligue 1 records of recent and hoping to build on it.
LOSC have beaten Dijon (1-0), Lyon (0-1), and Brest (1-0) in three narrow clashes since late November, sitting 3rd after 17 games played and now surely hoping to catch up with the top 2. They have at least five sides breathing down their necks and building on the gap rather than seeing Montpellier catch up will be crucial.
Montpellier have struggled for consistency and while they delivered in front of the home fans, they saw PSG (1-3) snatch all three points at La Mosson Stadium and end their seven-match unbeaten streak last week. They have seen a comeback and shaking it off could prove a tough task, at least for now.
La Paillade haven’t really been able to impress on the road and they’ve been held off by Metz (2-2), St Etienne (0-0), and Dijon (2-2) since early November. They are still looking for their first win on the road this term despite coming oh-so-close lately, which could be worrying for the travelling fans.
We do feel they’ll show off as a tough nut to crack once again, though, and we’ll now stick our necks out for the visitors to snatch a point at Pierre Mauroy Stadium – going for a Draw priced at 5/2 with bet365 and already rated value by many in the know.
We do hope for a more thrilling head-to-head clash than what we’ve been used to lately. We should be in for goals and we’ll thus also go for a Yes on Both teams to score, which comes at 6/5 with William Hill and could prove the best approach to the fixture.
