Liechtenstein vs Bosnia-Herzegovina Match Preview
Bosnia-Herzegovina now know they will have to rely on the play-offs to reach Euro 2020 – but should at least complete their qualifying campaign with a straightforward win in Vaduz.
Finland’s 3-0 victory over Liechtenstein on Friday sent them through to a first ever major tournament appearance at the expense of Bosnia-Herzegovina, who nevertheless are guaranteed a second bite of the cherry in March.
As they did so well in the second tier of the inaugural UEFA Nations League last season, winning their group to earn promotion, Robert Prosinecki’s side will be top seeds for their section of the play-offs but are sure to be up against three other very useful teams.
Their last competitive action before then is against Liechtenstein, who tried in vain to stage a successful rearguard effort in Helsinki on Friday but ultimately could not cope with two-goal Finland hero Teemu Pukki and co.
Liechtenstein offered practically nothing going forward and on that evidence it was little wonder that they have scored only two goals in nine matches during this campaign.
In contrast, attacking play is Bosnia-Herzegovina’s strength via Edin Dzeko, Edin Visca and Miralem Pjanic and it would be surprising if the Golden Lilies did not go into the play-offs on the back of a decisive victory here.
