Levante vs Barcelona Match Preview
Barcelona take the next step along the route they hope will end with them setting a new record in the Copa del Rey.
Last season, the Catalan giants became the third club to win the King’s Cup in four consecutive years, following Athletic Bilbao (1930-33) and Madrid FC, the former name of Real Madrid (1905-08).
No team has ever done it five times in a row, but it’s a best price of 7/4 that Barcelona will make history this term.
You would not put it past Ernesto Valverde’s side to repeat the Treble achieved by Luis Enrique’s men in 2015. They are five points clear at the top of La Liga table, face Lyon in the Champions League round-of-16 and their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, appear to have regressed since the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and manager Zinedine Zidane.
Levante are not expected to stop Barcelona in their tracks. The Valencia-based club are having a decent season, currently in mid-table of the Primera Division, but they were drubbed 5-0 at home by the Spanish champions in the build-up to Christmas when Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick and Luis Suarez grabbed his customary goal against these opponents.
The Frogs, as they are nicknamed, have conceded 13 goals in their last four games and we fear that the average will get no better here even though Barca made hard work of winning away to Getafe at the weekend.
