Leicester vs Bournemouth Match Preview
Leicester are still in the hunt to be the ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League this season. The split in quality from teams in the top six and the rest of the division appears to be quite a large one, but a cluster of teams are still clambering to finish in seventh place and the Foxes are among them. As things stand, the Midlands outfit sit in 10th place, but a win here could take them level on points with seventh-placed Wolves who take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
After a run of seven games without a victory saw them dismiss manager Claude Puel in February, new boss Brendan Rodgers has thus far guided his team to three wins in his first four games, including home victories against relegation-threatened Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham. With the home advantage, it’s no surprise that Leicester are favourites for the three points again in this fixture at odds of 5/6 with William Hill.
Bournemouth started the season in magnificent fettle and looked like they might be one of the teams challenging for a seventh-placed finish and possible Europa League spot next year. Form hasn’t remained at a consistent level throughout the campaign though and the Cherries have now slipped to 12th place, although a victory at the King Power this weekend will take them level on points with Leicester and keep faint hopes of a top seven finish alive.
Eddie Howe and his charges make the trip to the Midlands this week on the back of a run of seven games in which they have managed only one victory and have suffered heavy defeats away from home at Arsenal and Liverpool. They’ve struggled away from home particularly in the second half of the season, winning just one of their last ten matches on the road in all competitions. You can back them to buck that trend with a win here at 10/3 with Bet365.
Both teams to score has been something of a banker bet in Leicester’s recent games. The Foxes have both scored and conceded in their last six Premier League games and Bournemouth are usually a good bet in this market too given their propensity for attacking football under Eddie Howe and it was perhaps no surprise that six goals were shared between the teams in the reverse fixture back in September. The hosts should have enough to secure the win though so we’re backing the home win and both teams to score bet at William Hill.
Leicester’s star striker Jamie Vardy clearly didn’t enjoy playing under Claude Puel and was occasionally even left out of the side in big matches, notably away to Tottenham Hotspur last month. The 32 year old has found a new lease of life under Rodgers though, finding the net four times in four games since the Northern Irish manager’s arrival at the King Power, taking his seasonal tally to 12 goals in 27 Premier League appearances. We’re backing him for a 13th here at 11/10 with Bet365.
