Leeds picked up an important three points on Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory at home to local rivals Sheffield Wednesday. The result means they sit in second place and are four points behind leaders Norwich and three above Sheffield United. Their run-in is kind with just one of their last four (Aston Villa at home) coming against teams in the top 12.

At Elland Road, United have won nine of their last 12 with their two of those defeats coming against promotion rivals Sheffield United and Norwich. Pablo Hernandez has three in his last four at this ground while Patrick Bamford has eight in his last 13 appearances at all grounds. Two of the last three played here have ended in a 1-0 home success.

Wigan saw their winless run stretched to four but they performed well and perhaps deserved more from their 1-1 home draw with leaders Norwich on Sunday. The result leaves them one place and two points above Rotherham. After facing Leeds they have three remaining fixtures all of which come against teams outside the top ten.

Bookmakers have Leeds strong favourites to win this fixture and the performance against Sheffield Wednesday suggests they are finding form at the right time. Wigan showed against Norwich they can be tricky opponents but the bulk of their good work this season has come at home so we think United can be backed here. We would find a way to enhance the odds though and with two of their last three home wins coming 1-0 I like a home win and under 3.5 goals as the main bet with a smaller interest on the hosts and under 2.5 goals.
