Leeds vs Brentford Predictions
Leeds United are hoping to go one step further this season after just missing out on promotion last year. Despite occupying a top two spot for the vast majority of the campaign, the Whites somehow dropped into the play-offs after a poor spell of form in the latter stages of the season and then lost out to Derby County in the semi-finals, meaning hunger to return to the Premier League is stronger than ever this season.
The Elland Road faithful have been treated to some fine performances so far this season with Marcelo Bielsa’s men picking up three wins and one draw from their four fixtures in all competitions so far, with away wins over Bristol City and Wigan Athletic particularly impressive. Can the West Yorkshire outfit now pick up their first home win of the season at odds of 8/13 with Unibet?
Brentford were among our promotion tips for the Championship this term but after selling star striker Neal Maupay to Brighton & Hove Albion in the closing stages of the transfer window, expectations will have been tempered somewhat at Griffin Park. It’s been a slow start to the season too with the Bees picking up just four points from an available nine in their first three league games of the campaign.
As such, it’s tough to tell just where this Brentford side are at the moment. Against Birmingham City they were desperately unlucky to lose, but in their victory at Middlesbrough they were perhaps slightly fortunate, whilst a home draw with Hull over the weekend will have disappointed manager Thomas Frank. Can the Londoners lay down a promotion marker by beating the title favourites away from home here at 5/1 with PaddyPower.
The Leeds defence has been strong of late, picking up clean sheets in it’s last two outings against Wigan Athletic in the Championship and Salford City in the EFL Cup. Brentford meanwhile have managed just three goals from four appearances so far this season in all competitions and appear to be lacking some killer instinct in front of goal following the sale of Maupay to Brighton. We’re on the home win to nil at 19/10 with Coral.
Patrick Bamford’s first season at Leeds was injury-hit, but he still managed to score nine Championship goals last season. The former Middlesbrough man has made a fine start to the new campaign too, with a brace in Saturday’s win over Wigan Athletic added to the goal he scored in the season opener against Bristol City. The 25 year old is our anytime goalscorer tip for this game at odds of 13/10 with Ladbrokes.
