Roma are in much better form than their city rivals and despite probably having one eye on a huge midweek date, they look good value to get the better of Lazio.

The Giallorossi play the second leg of their Champions League tie away to Porto on Wednesday leading 2-1 on aggregate but knowing progress is very much in the balance.

Manager Eusebio Di Francesco, whose job is reported to be under threat, could opt to rest some players for the Stadio Olimpico derby, but will also be aware that guaranteed entry to next season’s Champions League via the Serie A top four is currently marginal for his club.

That particular battle looks to have narrowed from being between seven to five in recent weeks, with one of Roma and the two Milan clubs set to miss out. Atalanta and Lazio are the duo that appear to have already fallen out of contention.

It’s because the goals supply has dried up for Lazio, whereas Roma have kicked on with three consecutive Serie A wins and in 2019 so far they have been particularly free-scoring.
