LA Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes Predictions
LA Galaxy are fighting it out with their cross-town rivals LAFC for the top spot in the Western Conference in Major League Soccer this season but they are starting to fall behind somewhat. Despite still clinging onto second place with 19 games on the board, the Galaxy are actually nine points behind their neighbours now and the likes of Seattle Sounders and Minnesota United are hot on their heels for second spot.
Recent form has been a little sketchy, particularly at home at Dignity Health Sports Park where Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s men have picked up just one win in their last four home games which has allowed that gap to open up at the top of the table. Having just lost to their oldest rivals San Jose Earthquakes 3-0 away from home a fortnight ago can they exact immediate revenge here at odds of 19/20 with William Hill?
San Jose Earthquakes have been one of the real strugglers in Major League Soccer in recent years, qualifying for the play-offs just once in the last six seasons and being knocked out at the first round in 2017. Now however, a new era has begun under the guidance of popular boss Matias Almeyda, who has led the team to some better performances in the opening stages of the current campaign.
The Argentine boss currently has his side sitting pretty in sixth place in the Western Conference Standings and he’s helping to turn the Avaya Stadium into something of a fortress with the team having not lost in their last nine games in front of their own fans. It’s on the road where the problems lie following a run of just one win in 14 competitive away games – can they secure the points here at 3/1 with Bet365.
We’re backing LA Galaxy to pick up the win here. The Quakes are certainly improving this season and got the better of their Cali Clasico rivals a few weeks ago, but on the road they continue to struggle. However, despite winning only one of these matches, Almeyda’s side have only failed to score in one of their last nine games on the road, so we do see them getting on the scoresheet here. The home win and both teams to score bet is available at 9/4 with Bet365.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in unsurprisingly excellent form in front of goal for the Galaxy this season. The 37 year old is showing no signs of wilting in Major League Soccer and has racked up no fewer than 13 goals in just 15 appearances in the competition so far this season. He thrives on the big game atmosphere – we’re backing him to open the scoring in this one at odds of 14/5 with Unibet.
