Kilmarnock vs Rangers Match Preview
Rangers travel to Kilmarnock for their Matchday 22 clash just a point in the clear as they chase Celtic at the top, beating Bhoys (1-0) late in December and now connecting a six-match unbeaten streak across competitions with a 3-2 friendly win over HJK.
Gers have played a game more but they sit behind pace-setters Celtic only for their goal difference, which will surely have them very motivated at Rugby Park on the day. However, we’ve seen them struggling for consistency on the road and this could be more worrying for Steven Gerrard.
Kilmarnock have proven themselves a tough side to beat and we’ve seen them bag four wins and a draw in five outings since their thrashing loss at Celtic (5-1), where they beat Dundee (3-1), Motherwell (0-1), St. Mirren (2-1), Forfar Athletic (2-0) and were only held to a draw by Hamilton (1-1) along the way.
Killie have last seen a home loss back in early November (1-2 to Aberdeen) and Steve Clarke’s men have based their early top spot chase on points here, which should have them just as confident ahead of the tough test Rangers surely will be.
We will thus stick our necks out for Kilmarnock to hold off the rivals and we’ll stick our necks out for an enticing Double Chance – Home win or Draw, which comes at 6/5 with Coral and attracts many value seekers already.
We have seen Rangers struggling on the road on some occasions and we feel Killie will have to base such an approach on a tough defensive display before anything else, as we also back Under 2.5 Goals FT at Evens with FansBet in hope for tough defensive set-ups on both ends.
